This site dates back to the spring of 2017 during my semester abroad at Renmin University in Beijing. On finishing the semester in June, I promised myself that I would maintain the momentum I had just gained during those five months and find a way to come back to China upon graduation. And I did. Fourteen months later, I found myself in Xizhou, Yunnan province. I lived in a single room in a courtyard, by an alley, in a village, an hour from the nearest third-tier Chinese town, in one of the most rural provinces of the country. But all good things come to their end, and today I live and work in the capital of Vietnam. I have so much to learn about this new country, it’s possible even words may fail me. Getting some thoughts down online seems like a good idea as any to commemorate this auspicious year.
